Through the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, I am hosting seminars to educate homebuyers how to purchase and maintain a home.  The Commission-sponsored homebuyer education seminars are the first step in purchasing a home.  They are free and open to the public, include information about the Commission’s first mortgage programs, down-payment assistance, and other loan programs; and are accepted by all affordable housing loan programs as meeting or exceeding educational requirements.  To learn more on the program, see the Commission’s website at http://wshfc.org/buyers/education.htm

The classes will be held at my office at FirstPoint Real Estate at 12020 Meridian East, Suite A, Puyallup, WA  98373.  I will be co-teaching the class with Kenton Becker of Land Home Financial Services.

To obtain the Commission sponsored certificate, you must obtain 5 hours of class time, which we are splitting up over 2 sessions.  Sessions are scheduled as follows:

  • Tuesday, August 12th and Tuesday, August 19th from 6:30pm – 8:50pm each evening.
  • Tuesday, August 26th and Tuesday, September 2nd from 6:30pm – 8:50pm each evening.
  • Tuesday September 23rd and Tuesday, September 30th from 6:30pm – 8:50pm each evening.

We require attendees to pre-register for the class by calling me at 253-377-9367 or email me at janet@firstpointre.com.   Please share with your family and friends who may be first-time homebuyers looking to get professionally educated on the home buying and financing process!

“Old” time rock and roll hits the Washington State Fair with Herman and The Hermits playing on Thursday, September 11th.  They will be joined by Peter Noone and the show will also feature The Grass Roots and The Buckinghams.

Herman’s Hermits formed in Manchester, England in 1963 as Herman & The Hermits. The band had two No. 1 hits in the United States market, “Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter,” and “I’m Henry the Eighth, I Am,” plus countless other songs high on the list. Hits like “Listen People,” “”I’m into Something Good,” and “There’s a Kind of Hush” brought the group critical acclaim.

Universally regarded as one of rock and roll's finest and most versatile entertainers, Peter Noone has been a standout over the years. Star of stage, screen and record, Noone's performances are the stuff of legend, deftly delivering a broad palette of music, defining a generation. Over 60 million records have been sold over the years, with 20 songs hitting the Top 40 charts.

The Fair opens on Friday September 5th.  Learn more about the Fair and the Concert Series at www.thefair.com.

On Tuesday, September 16th, Lindsey Stirling will perform as part of the Fair’s Concert Series!

Born in Santa Ana, California, Lindsey spent her high school years in Gilbert, Arizona. At the age of five her father’s classical music records influenced Lindsey to start playing the violin. For the next 12 years she took private lessons, perfecting the art. At 16, she and four friends started a rock band, called, “Stomp on Melvin.” She next moved to Provo, Utah to attend Brigham Young University, moving on to New York City for missionary work later.

At the age of 23 Lindsey found herself in the coveted position of being the quarter finalist in America’s Got Talent, Season Five. She was described as a hip hop violinist, electrifying the judges. Shortly afterwards, her first music video was shot in 2011; the first of many other music videos seen on her YouTube channel, Lindseystomp.

In December of 2012, Lindsey’s song on YouTube, “Crystallize,” was the No. 8 top-viewed video of the year with over 42 million views, and her cover version of “Radioactive” with Pentatonix won Response of the Year in the first YouTube Music Awards in 2013. Six months later, and she received her first golden certification for her self-titled album in Germany, followed shortly after in Switzerland and Austria. She was the second best-selling artist on the Classical Crossover charts in 2013, behind Andrea Bocelli. Lindsey appeared on several year-end charts.

This past April 23, Lindsey released the second single of her upcoming album, Shatter Me. The song, the album’s title track, accumulated 1.3 million views its first day online. Her YouTube channel continues to gain popularity, and has over 519 million total views and over four million subscribers (as of January 2014).

The Fair opens on Friday September 5th.  Learn more about the Fair and the Concert Series at www.thefair.com.

The Washington State Fair closes this year with up and coming pop a capella group Pentatonix!

With the amazing national exposure of winning NBC’s Season Three of “The Sing Off,” Pentatonix’s popularity has seen highs beyond their wildest dreams. This pop a capella quintet has developed a sound and style that has sold out concert venues throughout the US and Europe.

Pentatonix is comprised of lead vocalists Scott Hoying (22), Kirstie Maldonado (21) and Mitch Grassi (21), vocal bass Avi Kaplan (24) and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola (25) and, while the individuals would maintain that each of their fellow band members is irreplaceable, the fact remains that 24 hours before their audition for The Sing-Off they still hadn’t all officially met.

After “The Sing Off,” Pentatonix relocated to Los Angeles where they produced and released 2 EP’s – PTX Vol 1 & PTXmas, each time debuting on Billboard’s Top 200 and selling more than 125,000 albums. They have twice toured North America, regularly selling out venues that include New York City’s Best Buy Theater and San Francisco’s Warfield Theater and their first ever European Tour sold out in its entirety.

The Fair opens on Friday September 5th.  Learn more about the Fair and the Concert Series at www.thefair.com.

Happy Tuesday!

I've been busy the last few weeks working the HOT real estate market and have not been able to keep up on my blog.  Hopefully I will be able to be more consistent in my postings going forward!

I noticed recently articles in the local newspaper and on the Northwest Multiple Listing website, discussing home prices, closed sales, and inventory numbers in Pierce County.  As I'm sure you are aware, home prices continue to rise, in fact, over 9% from May 2013 to May 2014.  The median home/condo price sold in May was $229,000 in Pierce County.

As I've noted in previous posts, the competition for well-priced homes in great condition is fierce.  These homes are seeing multiple offer situations and selling in a rapid time frame.  Home sales increased only 1.88% compared to May of 2013 as our inventory coming into May was down.  But new listings in May have increased our inventory by 21% compared to last year!  Look for home closings in June to increase dramatically compared to last year.

Thanks for checking in on my Blog.  Make sure to subscribe to my Blog to get notified immediately when new posts are made.

Thank you and Make it a Great Day!!!
